We HAD to visit the National Route 66 Museum in Elk City Oklahoma. It includes a set of tableaux’s representing each state along the route. The museum is part of a nice complex including: a Transportation Museum covering the history of the road; the Old Town museum , a town square from the early 1900’s’; a Farm and Ranch Museum, and a Blacksmith Museum. Definitely worth a stop – we spent a couple of hours there. https://www.elkcity.com/departments/museums/national-route-66-museum/
The Farm and Ranch museum – all the windmills and implements you can imagine.
Including a “broom corn” baler. At one time Elk City was the “Broom Corn Capital of the World” – our brooms might have been made there. Who knew?
Handiwork of the Blacksmith museum.
