While not a traditional stop on Route 66, the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum – the site of the 1995 Oklahoma city bombing – is a must do. As you enter the space, the first thing you see is a reflecting pool where the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building stood. The entrance at one end carries the time 9:01, and on the opposite entrance is 9:03, representing life before the bombing and life after. On one side of the pool is a slight rise with a sculptural chair for each victim in the building.
There’s a museum adjacent to the memorial which we unfortunately didn’t have time to see, perhaps the next time through. http://oklahomacitynationalmemorial.orgo
